Afonwen Antiques, Gift and Craft Centre

Although a very interesting and pleasant trip out, this centre is predominantly an antiques centre. There is a unit selling gifts and crafts, but not really what we would term as ‘crafts’. They are more mass produced products and for the most part not hand made at all. Saying that, you would find something unusual to buy, if looking for something a little bit different. The restaurant is very nice and the food enjoyable, ample parking..although some work to the canal by the side of the car park was being carried out on our last visit, which may cause some disruption for a time.Unless you like antiques, or happen to be in the area as we were, don’t make a special trip as you will probably be done and dusted within a couple of hours including a cuppa!If you do decide to pay the centre a visit they do have a web site Afonwen Antiques, gift and craft centre where you will find out all the info you need. i.e. opening times, direction, address etc.

What a fantastic shop to have a look at. If you are looking for something different as a gift or for yourself, but sometimes struggle to use your imagination…this place will open your mind for you…

Denby Visitor Centre

OK, so Denby Visitor’s Centre isn’t strictly a craft centre but, we did spend one entire wet and blustery morning here during our 2007 Christmas Safari as it had so much to offer and we got some really unusual watering cans for Xmas pressies

Blakemere Craft Centre

Blakemere Craft Centre, near Northwich in Cheshire is definitely worth a visit. We’ve been there several times over the past few years and have never been disappointed. They have about 20 craft shops in and around the Edwardian stable block and courtyard, a restaurant, small garden centre, aquatic and falconry centre. There is plenty of parking and you can easily while away a few pleasant hours here meandering from shop to shop looking for that elusive or unique gift.

From time to time they host craft fairs and antique & collector’s fairs, so check out the Blakemere website if you are planning a visit and see what events they have planned.

Slater's Craft Village

Slater’s Craft Village is a quaint little place with a nice selection of shops and very friendly people. Time just disappears here, in fact we managed to lose over an hour in Artigiano’s (the Italian Ceramics shop) alone. In addition to the shops, there is a restaurant and hotel accommodation, perfect for an Xmas Craft Safari should your budget stretch that far.
